Erasmus+ EU Program
Erasmus+ is the new EU program for education, training, youth and sport. Erasmus+ replaces former funding programs run by the European Commission in the area of education, training, youth and sport, including the Lifelong Learning Program (Erasmus, Leonardo, Grundtvig), Youth in Action and other international programs including Erasmus Mundus. The program consists of three key actions, one of those is carried out at HSPV NRW:
Key Action1: Mobility of individuals
Erasmus+ has a budget of approximately 14.8 billion euros across Europe and will, up to 2020, provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to boost their skills and employability. Furthermore, the program aims to modernize education, training and youth work. Further information is available on the European Commission's website:
The budget will be allocated mainly in support of the mobility of individuals within Europe and, from 2015 on, with countries worldwide on a limited scale. Approximately two billion students shall benefit from Erasmus+ by 2020, among them around 250,000 Germans. For the first time, students can be funded for up to 12 months within one study cycle (Bachelor and Master). Erasmus+ supports the internationalization of higher educations by funding teaching and training periods for teaching and non-teaching staff from or to partner countries. Universities can invite representatives from any public or private organization active in the labor market for a teaching mobility. Additionally, universities can take part in multilateral strategic partnerships with other European partners (also from other socio-economic sectors) and develop joint innovative approaches (e.g. in terms of curricula development or for topics relevant to the different systems of education, training and youth). The budget for most mobility programs and strategic partnerships is implemented by the national agencies in all 33 program countries (28 EU-member countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the FYR Macedonia, Norway and Turkey). In Germany, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) promotes and implements the program. Erasmus+ supports the following mobility programs at HSPV NRW:
